Check out our new March artwork at the post office.

We spent a fun Friday painting rainbows!

A parent donated some extra Lego Duplos to our existing set. These first graders are excitedly building creative things.

February is our month of kindness. Today Ms. Liesel is here to continue our work on empathy and kindness. Each day in February we all receive a kindness heart. Today's hearts came from a parent!

Have you seen all of our excitement about Flat Stanley? This is the book the project is based around. if you are looking to add to your home collection, there is an entire series of the adventures of Flat Stanley.

We have mailed 22 Flat Stanleys to volunteers around the country! Most have arrived safely and one is already on the way home. We love looking at the map to see where our paper boys are traveling.

We use computers to enhance our classroom lessons. These second graders are practicing typing their spelling words. Using the online programs helps us be prepared in the event that we have to do virtual school once again.

Today we are celebrating Dental Health month with Nurse Sheila. We are learning the proper way to brush our teeth and we are all getting our own toothbrush to brush away the valentine candy.

Don't forget library books, clear backpacks, and valentines!
San Juan School District is saddened to hear of the passing of Albert Hale, former president of the Navajo Nation. In recognition of his service to others, SJSD will join with all Navajo Nation schools in paying tribute to his life by flying our flags at half-mast through Saturday, February 6th.
On National Counselors Week, SJSD sends a huge shout out to the hard working counselors and social workers supporting our students. Your great work is truly making a difference.
February 3 will be CCR day (Parent-Teacher Conferences).
There will be no school that day.
A note is coming home today regarding this.
Happy Friday! Work on gathering those collections of 100 items for Wednesday!
100 Collection Project
Wednesday, January 27th is our 100th day of school!
Normally we invite parents to participate with us here at school, but this year is different. Each student and family will work at home to create a collection of 100 items that are the same or similar. Display the collection in a creative way (think Pinterest). Each student will present their project and will have it photographed to be published. The collections must be school appropriate and will be returned home at the end of the day.
SJSD’s recently elected board members taking their oath of office. Thank you all board members for your leadership and willingness to serve.

Any parents willing to be a virtual volunteer for the 100th day activity? You would spend about an hour on Jan 27th on google meet (a computer will be available for loan)helping kids pass off an activity. We can make it work with your schedule. Let me know!
FYI: Lunch for Tuesday and Wednesday next week have been swapped.
There will be no school on Monday, January 18. Enjoy the 3 day weekend!
It is time for January Family Night. The theme is US Geography. Students are bringing home a puzzle of the USA tonight.
Every day we do explicit phonics instruction. I use a specific fingering technique to focus attention and drill the sounds. Today kids took turns being the teacher. I gave them feedback and pointers on being a good teacher. They are fast learners! They even notice how I count the seconds of "think time" before requiring a response.
