We use computers to enhance our classroom lessons. These second graders are practicing typing their spelling words. Using the online programs helps us be prepared in the event that we have to do virtual school once again.

100 Collection Project Wednesday, January 27th is our 100th day of school! Normally we invite parents to participate with us here at school, but this year is different. Each student and family will work at home to create a collection of 100 items that are the same or similar. Display the collection in a creative way (think Pinterest). Each student will present their project and will have it photographed to be published. The collections must be school appropriate and will be returned home at the end of the day.

Any parents willing to be a virtual volunteer for the 100th day activity? You would spend about an hour on Jan 27th on google meet (a computer will be available for loan)helping kids pass off an activity. We can make it work with your schedule. Let me know!

Every day we do explicit phonics instruction. I use a specific fingering technique to focus attention and drill the sounds. Today kids took turns being the teacher. I gave them feedback and pointers on being a good teacher. They are fast learners! They even notice how I count the seconds of "think time" before requiring a response.
